Basketball Recap: Dunellen's Losing Streak Is a Thing of the Past

Dunellen's game last Monday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Wednesday. They walked away with a 32-25 win over the South River Rams. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Destroyers as it put an end to their five-game losing streak.

Dunellen got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Sophie Jimenez out in front who dropped a double-double on 14 points and ten rebounds. Fabiana Ames Castillo was another key player, putting up ten points and four steals.

Dunellen smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in six consecutive games.

Dunellen's victory ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 4-14. As for South River, they are on a 15-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-14.

Dunellen is taking a road trip to challenge Brearley at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for South River, they won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Sayreville at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday.
