Basketball Recap: Timber Wood's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Wayne over Tabiona

Wayne fought the good fight in their overtime contest against Tabiona on Saturday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Tabiona Tigers by a score of 60-57. The Badgers have been going strong on the season, but this is now their second loss in a row.

Wayne lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Timber Wood, who posted 11 points along with eight boards and three steals. Wood has been hot recently, having posted three or more steals the last three times she's played. AJ VanDyke was another key player, almost dropping a double-double on 14 points and nine boards.

Wayne's defeat dropped their record down to 8-3. As for Tabiona, the win was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 8-1.

Wayne and Tabiona should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Utah Rankings. Wayne (ranked 32nd) will meet Altamont (ranked 106th) at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Wayne is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 52.9 points per game this season. Meanwhile, Tabiona (ranked 23rd) will meet Bryce Valley (ranked 102nd) at 5:30 p.m. on Friday.
