Basketball Game Preview: Universal Stars vs. Islamic Foundation Chargers

The Universal Stars will venture away from home to square off against the Islamic Foundation Chargers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Universal's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points every time they've taken the court this season.

Universal is headed into the contest having just posted their closest victory since February 10th on Wednesday. They skirted past College Prep of America 60-57. The game was the first time the Stars have beaten the Thunder on their court since February 20, 2023.

Universal found their leader in sophomore AbuBakr Hasan, who shot 40% from the field to rack up 17 points along with eight boards and five assists. The team also got some help courtesy of Adam Amra, who posted 12 points and six rebounds.

Universal smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 12 offensive boards every time they've taken the court this season.

Meanwhile, Islamic Foundation had to start their season on the road last Tuesday, and it wasn't the start they were hoping for. They were outmatched by Universal and fell 75-45.

Universal's win bumped their record up to 3-0. As for Islamic Foundation, they dropped their record down to 0-1 with the loss, which was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season.

Everything came up roses for Universal against Islamic Foundation in their previous matchup last Tuesday, as the team secured a 75-45 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Stars since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
