Softball Game Preview: Model Patriots vs. Robertson County Black Devils

Model is a perfect 4-0 against Robertson County since May of 2021 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Wednesday. The Patriots will host the Black Devils at 6:30 p.m. Model is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 12.4 runs per game this season.

Model was handed a heart-breaking two-run loss in their last match, but they sure didn't let that happen against Danville on Tuesday. The Patriots were the clear victors by a 19-3 margin over the Admirals. The Patriots have beaten the Admirals the last eight times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Admirals has come to flipping the script.

Kendall Maggard made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run over four innings pitched. She also allowed four hits, marking her first of the season. She was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring three runs and stealing a base while getting on base in all five of her plate appearances. That's the most runs she has posted since back in April of 2024.

In other batting news, Kayln Renfro was a standout: she scored three runs while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances. She also put up a double, which was her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Addison Palm, who scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances.

Model was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .389. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .308 or higher every time they've taken the field this season.

Meanwhile, Robertson County lost 19-4 to Ludlow two weeks ago. The Black Devils haven't had much luck with the Panthers recently, as the team has come up short the last three times they've met.

Model now has a winning record of 3-2. As for Robertson County, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-6.

Everything went Model's way against Robertson County in their previous meeting back in May of 2024, as Model made off with an 18-0 victory. Do the Patriots have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Black Devils turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
