Preview: Northern Burlington Greyhounds vs. Doane Academy

The Northern Burlington Greyhounds will head out on the road to square off against Doane Academy at 5:15 p.m. on Thursday. Northern Burlington is hoping to put an end to a 14-game streak of away losses dating back to last season.

Last Friday, Northern Burlington came up short against Cinnaminson and fell 55-48. While losing is never fun, Northern Burlington can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' New Jersey basketball rankings (they are ranked 404th, while Cinnaminson is ranked 73rd).

Meanwhile, Doane Academy's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their sixth straight loss. They fell 69-61 to Trenton Catholic Academy. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Doane Academy in their matchups with Trenton Catholic Academy: they've now lost four in a row.

Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the most dominant came from Nick Fusco, who scored 20 points along with six assists. He hasn't dropped below 15points for five straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Hiatt Smith, who scored 17 points along with eight rebounds.

Northern Burlington's loss dropped their record down to 1-12. As for Doane Academy, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost seven of their last eight matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-10 record this season.

Northern Burlington skirted past Doane Academy 65-63 in their previous meeting back in December of 2023. The rematch might be a little tougher for Northern Burlington since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
