Basketball Recap: Burke County Snags Eighth Win in Last Nine Games

Burke County won the last time they faced Josey, and De'Quayvian Lovette did his part to make sure it happened again. The Burke County Bears blew past the Josey Eagles 74-49 on Friday thanks in part to Lovette, who went 13 for 23 on his way to 31 points in addition to five boards and five steals. The match was his third in a row with at least ten points.

The team also got some help courtesy of Omarion Cobb, who went 6 of 9 en route to 16 points and three steals. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in points.

Burke County is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine contests, which provided a nice bump to their 14-3 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 71.6 points per game. As for Josey, they dropped their record down to 1-15 with the defeat, which was their ninth straight on the road dating back to last season.

Coincidentally, Burke County and Josey will both be playing Butler the next time they take the court. Josey will head out to face Butler at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, while Burke County will head out to face them at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
