Football Game Preview: Watauga Pioneers vs. Sun Valley Spartans + Official Tickets

Watauga has won seven straight games at home, while Sun Valley has won seven straight on the road, but those streaks won't matter much on Friday. The Pioneers will challenge the Spartans at 7:30 p.m. Watauga's defense has only allowed 11.6 points per game this season, so Sun Valley's offense will have their work cut out for them.

Watauga is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. They walked away with a 27-19 win over Charlotte Catholic. The 27-point effort marked the Pioneers' lowest-scoring matchup of the season, but in the end it didn't matter.

Cade Keller was his usual excellent self, throwing for 199 yards and one touchdown while completing 85.3% of his passes. Matthew Leon also helped with two TDs in total.

Watauga didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The team can thank two different players for their defensive prowess: Leon and Evan Burroughs, who each picked up one interception apiece. Leon got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.

Meanwhile, Sun Valley made easy work of Freedom on Friday and carried off a 46-20 victory. The result was nothing new for the Spartans, who have now won eight games by 21 points or more so far this season.

Watauga's record now sits at 12-0. As for Sun Valley, their record is now 9-3.
