Softball Recap: Wheat Ridge Farmers vs. Pomona Panthers

After flying high against Standley Lake last Wednesday, Wheat Ridge came back down to earth. The Wheat Ridge Farmers took a 6-3 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Pomona Panthers on Friday. The defeat continues a trend for the Farmers in their matchups with the Panthers: they've now lost four in a row.

Haley Cross was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. She struck out six batters over six innings while giving up three earned (and three unearned) runs off seven hits (and only one walk). She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing a base while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances.

Cross wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Evelyn Detwiler, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3.

Wheat Ridge's loss dropped their record down to 12-11. As for Pomona, their record now sits at 12-10.

As of now, neither Wheat Ridge nor Pomona have any future games scheduled.
