Basketball Recap: Monday's Victory Is Gulliver Prep's Seventh in Last Eight Outings

Gulliver Prep had already proven themselves in the regular season and they didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They strolled past the NSU University Sharks with points to spare on Monday, taking the game 85-69. This was a revenge game for the Raiders: when they faced off against the Sharks back in January, they had to take a 72-45 defeat.

Gulliver Prep's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jacob Marquez, who dropped a double-double with 18 points and ten assists. Marquez is also on a roll when it comes to shooting accuracy, as he's posted one of at least 45% in the last 35 games he's played dating back to last season. Caden Roberts was another key player, going 9-for-14 on his way to 22 points.

Marquez wasn't the only one working in the assist department: Gulliver Prep was working as a unit and finished the game with 23 assists. That's the most assists they've posted since back in November of 2024.

When it comes to explaining why NSU University lost, don't look at Jordan Moshe. Despite the final result, he went 10-for-17 en route to 27 points and five rebounds. Thanks to that strong game, Moshe now owns an excellent 45.2% field goal percentage. Another player making a difference was Justin Rhodes, who almost dropped a double-double with nine points and nine boards.

Gulliver Prep has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 20-8 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 67.4 points over those games. NSU University's loss dropped their record down to 16-9.

Gulliver Prep wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 68-54 defeat against Cardinal Gibbons on the 20th. NSU University does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
