Kearsley hadn't done well against Fenton recently (they were 0-9 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Monday. The Hornets walked away with a 5-2 victory over the Tigers. While the Hornets didn't have the best season last year (they finished 10-14-1), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

Aiden Tipton made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out seven over five innings pitched. Tipton was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with three stolen bases and two runs.

Tipton wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Brady Messenger, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI. Chase Tobias was another, going 1-for-4 with two runs and one stolen base.

Kearsley's win bumped their record up to 5-2. As for Fenton, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-3-1.

Kearsley will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Tigers: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
