Baseball Recap: Trenton's Loss Ends Nine-Game Winning Streak at Home

Trenton dropped their record down to 9-2 on Wednesday, which also ended the team's nine-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season. They fell just short of the Woodhaven Warriors by a score of 2-1. The Trojans were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Warriors apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in May of 2024.

Joel Mator was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he struck out 11 batters over 8.1 innings while giving up just two earned runs off four hits (and not a single walk). He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks any time he's pitched this season.

At the plate, Trenton saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Tyler Crook, who went 1-for-4 with one stolen base. Niko Beaudrie also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

As for Woodhaven, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-3 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.8 runs over those games.

On Woodhaven's side, Evan Holt looked comfortable as he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Dante Perry, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one double. That's the most hits he has posted over his last 13 contests. The team also got some help courtesy of Jace Davis, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and two RBI.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Trenton is set to face off against their familiar foe Roosevelt at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, Woodhaven will challenge rival Anderson at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Warriors 2.4, the Titans 3) so any runs scored will be well earned.
