Baseball Recap: Independence Find Success

Independence came out on top against San Jose on Tuesday thanks in part to the team's impressive six-run seventh inning. The 76ers narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past the Bulldogs 11-10. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 12-11 back in March.

Tyler Aberin and Kaleo Garcia did most of the damage at the plate: Aberin got on base in three of his four plate appearances with four stolen bases and two runs, while Garcia got on base in three of his five plate appearances with four stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. Those four stolen bases gave Garcia a new career-high. Sam Pena was another key player, getting on base in two of his four plate appearances with four stolen bases and one run.

The victory got Independence back to even at 9-9. As for San Jose, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost eight of their last nine matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-13 record this season.

Independence will have a chance to go back-to-back against San Jose: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
