Football Game Preview: Galena Park Yellowjackets vs. Sharpstown Apollos

The Galena Park Yellowjackets will square off against the Sharpstown Apollos at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Galena Park's favor is that they have posted at least 31 points in their last five matchups.

On Friday, Galena Park came up short against Waltrip and fell 44-37. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game two weeks ago (34), the Yellowjackets still had to take the loss.

Despite the loss, Galena Park got top-tier performance from Cary Clay, who rushed for 321 yards and four touchdowns while picking up 8.0 yards per carry. Thanks to that big game, Clay is now up to 15 rushing touchdowns on the season.

Meanwhile, Sharpstown was not able to break out of their rough patch last Saturday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They were dealt a 49-20 loss at the hands of Waltrip. The Apollos were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 42-6.

Galena Park's defeat dropped their record down to 2-5. As for Sharpstown, their loss dropped their record down to 2-4.

Galena Park couldn't quite get it done against Sharpstown when the teams last played back in October of 2024 as they fell 12-0. Thankfully for the Yellowjackets, Ladesmond Rhone (who picked up 158 receiving yards and one score, and also rushed for 85 yards and one TD) won't be suiting up this time.
