The Fort Calhoun Pioneers's road trip will continue as they head out to face the Syracuse Rockets on Thursday. Fort Calhoun is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.8 runs per game this season.

Last Tuesday, Fort Calhoun got the win against Tekamah-Herman by a conclusive 9-1. The result was nothing new for the Pioneers, who have now won three matchups by eight runs or more so far this season.

The team relied heavily on Kaylee Taylor, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-4. Addison Benoit also deserves some recognition as she brought in her first RBI of the season.

Meanwhile, Syracuse didn't have quite enough to beat Milford on Tuesday and fell 8-6.

Even though they lost, Syracuse didn't let batters stay on the plate for long and finished the game with six strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Milford only tossed three.

Fort Calhoun's win bumped their record up to 3-1. As for Syracuse, their loss dropped their record down to 0-2.

Everything went Fort Calhoun's way against Syracuse in their previous matchup back in October of 2023 as Fort Calhoun made off with a 10-0 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Fort Calhoun since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
