Baseball Recap: Coventry Takes a Tough Playoff Loss

Coventry and Shepaug Valley squared off in some playoff action on Saturday, but Coventry had to settle for second. They fell just short of the Spartans by a score of 6-5. If the Patriots were looking for revenge after losing 4-2 to the Spartans when the teams met back in June of 2021, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Mather Spear was cooking despite his team's loss, going 3-for-5 with two RBI.

Coventry dropped their record down to 14-10 with the loss, which was their fifth straight on the road. As for Shepaug Valley, the victory (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 21-4.

Coventry does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Shepaug Valley, they wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next game, a 5-4 defeat against Holy Cross on the 10th.
