Softball Recap: Proctor Academy's Win on Wednesday Extends Winning Streak to Three

Proctor Academy barely beat Kents Hill School the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Hornets put the hurt on the Huskies with a sharp 12-2 win on Wednesday. The result was nothing new for the Hornets, who have now won four contests by ten runs or more so far this season.

Abbie Vlacich was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 11 batters over five innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Caroline Dove was a standout: she got on base in three of her four plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. Paige Makechnie was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run.

The victory (which was Proctor Academy's third in a row) raised their record to 4-3.

Looking ahead, Proctor Academy will be playing at home against Brewster Academy National at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Kents Hill School does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
