Basketball Recap: Make It Four in a Row for White

White won the last time they faced Hillcrest, and Dany Diaz did her part to make sure it happened again. The White Longhorns simply couldn't be stopped on Tuesday as they easily beat the Hillcrest Panthers 73-32 thanks in part to Diaz, who posted 38 points in addition to eight steals and six boards. That makes it five consecutive games in which she has scored at least a third of White's points.

The team also got some help courtesy of Portia Danso, who almost dropped a double-double on ten points and nine rebounds. She also grabbed five steals, which is notable because White is 7-3 when she posts at least five steals, but 4-6 otherwise.

Despite the defeat, Hillcrest saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Clauriannys Berrios put up 12 points along with eight boards and three steals. Berrios has been hot, having posted three or more steals the last six times she's played.

The victory (which was White's fourth in a row) raised their record to 11-9. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 79.0 points per game. As for Hillcrest, with the loss, they broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 11-11.

White has already played their next contest, a 50-28 win against South Oak Cliff on the 17th. As for Hillcrest, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 53-11 victory against Adamson on the 17th.
