Baseball Recap: Fairfield Union Gets the Win

Fairfield Union owes their pitching crew a big pat on the back after their performance on Wednesday. They had just enough and edged out the Westerville South Wildcats 1-0. That's two games straight that the Falcons have won by just one run.

The result came thanks to Eli Wolfe's shutout, as he gave up just a hit and racked up seven Ks.

At the plate, Fairfield Union saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Micha Hartman, who went 1-for-4 with one home run.

The win made it two in a row for Fairfield Union and bumps their season record up to 11-6. They've had to fight for that success though, as they only beat their opponents by an average of one runs across that stretch. As for Westerville South, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost eight of their last ten contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-11 record this season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Fairfield Union will welcome Waverly at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Westerville South, they will host Pickerington Central at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Tigers' pitching crew has only allowed 2.9 runs per game this season, so the Wildcats' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
