Baseball Game Preview: Kasson-Mantorville Komets vs. Lourdes Eagles

Kasson-Mantorville hasn't had much luck against Lourdes recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Komets will be playing at home against the Eagles at 5:00 p.m.

On Monday, Kasson-Mantorville came up short against Pine Island and fell 7-3. The Komets have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Meanwhile, it may have taken nine innings to finish the job, but Lourdes ultimately got the result they hoped for on Monday. They skirted past St. Charles 6-4. The Eagles haven't had any issues with the Fighting Saints recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.

Jack Roe made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out nine batters over 3.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Roe was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-5 with three RBI. That's the most hits he has posted since back in April of 2024.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Nicholas Bowron, who scored three runs and stole two bases while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in May of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Nolan Rolih, who went 1-for-3 with one triple, two RBI, and one run.

Lourdes' first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-2. As for Kasson-Mantorville, they now also have a losing record of 1-2.

Kasson-Mantorville was able to grind out a solid win over Lourdes when the teams last played back in April of 2024, winning 5-2. Will the Komets repeat their success, or do the Eagles have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
