Basketball Recap: Crescent Loggers vs. Ocosta Wildcats
Crescent easily dispatched Clallam Bay on Friday, but unfortunately both the margin and the ultimate result were a different story in this one. The Crescent Loggers fell just short of the Ocosta Wildcats by a score of 31-29 on Saturday. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Loggers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 29-26 back in December of 2024.

Crescent's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Naomii Sprague, who posted 12 points and eight steals, and Audrey Gales, who had 11 points along with six boards and five blocks. Sprague is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last 29 games she's played dating back to last season. Another player making a difference was Kali Hopper, who scored four points and nine rebounds.
Ocosta found their leader in sophomore Elly Mirante, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 16 boards. Those 16 rebounds set a new season-high mark for Mirante.
Crescent now has a losing record at 6-7. As for Ocosta, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a massive bump to their 4-10 record this season.
Crescent and Ocosta could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Washington Rankings. Crescent will face off against Neah Bay at 5:45 p.m. on Wednesday down 304 places (317 vs. 13). Similarly, Ocosta (ranked 315th) will meet Taholah (ranked 141st) at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
