Recap: Central Academy Cougars vs. Anson Bearcats
This season hasn't been kind to the Central Academy Cougars, who are still winless after their 11th match. They were dealt a 54-21 defeat at the hands of Anson on Friday. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Central Academy in their matchups with Anson: they've now lost five in a row.
Despite the loss, Central Academy still got an impressive performance from Jadah Pringle, who scored 13 points along with six rebounds. Pringle scored a full 61.9% of Central Academy's points, the fourth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Central Academy's defeat was their 18th straight at home dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 0-11. As for Anson, their win bumped their record up to 3-9.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Central Academy will square off against Piedmont at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Anson won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Cheraw at 3:00 p.m. on January 6th. Cheraw presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Anson in their respective states (Cheraw is ranked 159th in South Carolina, while Anson is ranked 529th in North Carolina).
