While losing is never fun, Newberry Academy can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 251st, while Laurens Academy is ranked 58th).
Richard Winn Academy has not been sharp recently, as they've lost three of their last four matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-4 record this season. As for Newberry Academy, they bumped their record down to 2-9 with that loss, which was their fourth straight at home.
Everything came up roses for Richard Winn Academy against Newberry Academy in their previous matchup back in December of 2023 as the team secured a 43-10 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Richard Winn Academy since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
