Basketball Game Preview: Assumption Rockets vs. Male Bulldogs

Assumption has gone 8-2 against Male recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Thursday. The Assumption Rockets just played yesterday, but they'll still head out to face the Male Bulldogs at 5:30 p.m. One thing working in Assumption's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last five matchups.

Assumption is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They breezed past Brown to the tune of 87-14 on Wednesday. The Rockets have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 13 games by 21 points or more this season.

Assumption's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Ashlinn James, who posted ten points and four steals. James is crushing it when it comes to steals: she's grabbed at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Ava Moore, who scored nine points.

Assumption smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 27 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive boards they've posted since the start of last season.

Meanwhile, Male posted their biggest win since January 22nd on Wednesday. They took their contest with ease, bagging a 57-17 victory over Louisville Collegiate. Given the Bulldogs' advantage in MaxPreps' Kentucky basketball rankings (they are ranked 114th in Kentucky, while the Amazons & Titans are ranked 244th in Kentucky), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Assumption's record now sits at 21-5. As for Male, their record is now 12-8.

Everything came up roses for Assumption against Male in their previous matchup back in January, as the team secured a 65-33 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Assumption since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
