Waterloo dropped their record down to 21-10 on Wednesday, which also ended the team's six-game streak of wins. They came up short against Highland, falling 9-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat Waterloo has suffered since April 17th.

As for Highland, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 18-12. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.8 runs over those games.

For Highland's part, Braxdon Decker made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out nine batters over 4.2 innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits. Decker has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't tossed less than nine strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Garrin Stone, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. Blaise Hawkins was another key player, earning one RBI and two runs.

Looking ahead, Waterloo will square off against Belleville West at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Highland, they will welcome Salem at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
