Baseball Recap: Port Jervis Picks Up Third Straight Win on the Road

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Chester, Port Jervis was happy to have turned things around on Friday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Liberty Indians a 12-0 shutout. The win continues a trend for the Raiders in their matchups with the Indians: they've now won five in a row.

Cole Corcoran was a standout: he went a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Corbin Hicks, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI.

Port Jervis was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .417. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their batting average total in four consecutive matches.

Port Jervis' victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 4-5. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.7 runs over those games. As for Liberty, they are on a five-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-4.

Looking ahead, Port Jervis will square off against Beacon at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Liberty, they will head out on the road to square off against Eldred at 4:15 p.m. on Monday.
