Softball Recap: Thomaston Takes a Loss

After flying high against Gilbert-Northwestern Regional on Monday, Thomaston came back down to earth. The Bears fell 4-1 to the Shepaug Valley Spartans on Tuesday. The Bears were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Spartans earlier this season, when they won 4-3.

Thomaston saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jackie Phillips, who went 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI.

Thomaston's defeat dropped their record down to 8-5. As for Shepaug Valley, their win bumped their record up to 7-9.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Thomaston will head out to take on Terryville at 3:45 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Shepaug Valley, they will venture away from home to face off against Gilbert at 4:15 p.m. on Wednesday. The Yellowjackets have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 17.2 runs per game on average), something the Spartans will no doubt try to take advantage of.
