Softball Recap: Coleville Comes Up Short

Coleville had lost four straight on the road, but on Saturday they dropped their record down to 4-9 to make it five. They lost 20-0 to the Wells Leopards. Having soared to a lofty 20 runs in the game before, the Wolves' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.

As for Wells, the win was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 7-6. The high-scoring performance was a welcome turnaround for their hitters, who had struggled in the games prior.

For Wells' part, Khloe DelRio made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. DelRio has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with three runs, one triple, and two RBI. That triple marked the first that she has hit this season.

In other batting news, Jess Wright was a standout: she went a perfect 2-for-2 with four RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. Another player making a difference was Stacia Hansen, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, two doubles, and one RBI.

While Coleville had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair will be back at it again later today.
