Softball Recap: Bowie Picks Up 14th Straight Win on the Road

Bowie had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 4.5 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Tuesday. They blew past the Del Valle Cardinals 12-1. The Bulldogs have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Cardinals, too.

Kate Bookidis spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on seven hits and racked up nine Ks.

At the plate, Bella Nungaray and CiCi Alvidrez did most of the damage at the plate: Nungaray went 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs, while Alvidrez scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances. That's the most RBI Nungaray has posted since back in March of 2024. Lillie Gideon was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.

Bowie pushed their record up to 7-4 with the win, which was their 14th straight on the road dating back to last season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.7 runs over those games. As for Del Valle, their loss dropped their record down to 6-2-1.

Coming up, Bowie will look to defend their home field on Friday against Dripping Springs at 7:00 p.m. Bowie's pitching crew has only allowed 3.2 runs per game this season, so Dripping Springs' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Del Valle, they will head out to face off against Lake Travis at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Lake Travis is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.2 runs per game this season.
