Basketball Recap: Purdue Poly Englewood vs. Beech Grove Hornets
It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Purdue Poly Englewood had no problem doing just that on Friday. They came out on top against the Hornets by a score of 53-44. The win made it back-to-back wins for Purdue Poly Englewood.
Beech Grove's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Mylee Boling, who scored 15 points along with six rebounds. That was a full 34.1% of Beech Grove's points, marking the fourth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Lyla Muffler-challis, who scored five points along with two steals.
The victory got Purdue Poly Englewood back to even at 7-7. As for Beech Grove, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 14-9.
Purdue Poly Englewood won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against the Sparkplugs at 7:30 p.m. on February 3rd. Speedway is looking to tack on another W to their three-game streak on the road. Beech Grove does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
