Baseball Game Preview: Weiser Wolverines vs. Cole Valley Christian Chargers

The Weiser Wolverines are taking a road trip to challenge the Cole Valley Christian Chargers at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. Weiser has a tough task ahead: they'll enter the match with six straight losses, while Cole Valley Christian will come in with four straight victories.

On Friday, Weiser came up short against Parma and fell 8-4.

Weiser saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Weston Black, who went 1-for-4 with two stolen bases and two runs. Black has become a key player for the Wolverines: the team is 2-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 3-11-1 otherwise.

Cole Valley Christian came out on top against Melba on Saturday thanks in part to the team's impressive ten-run seventh inning. The Chargers took their game against the Mustangs 13-8.

Eli Hamby was a standout: he went 3-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in doubles (two). Carson Kile was another key player, getting on base in three of his five plate appearances with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base.

Cole Valley Christian lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.

Cole Valley Christian pushed their record up to 19-3 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.3 runs over those games. As for Weiser, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-12-1.

Weiser couldn't quite get it done against Cole Valley Christian when the teams last played back in April of 2024 as they fell 10-7. Can the Wolverines avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
