Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Avonworth walked away with it. Their defense stepped up to hand the Mt. Pleasant Vikings a 4-0 shutout on Thursday. Considering Avonworth have won 11 matchups by more than two goals this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Avonworth's victory was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 16-3-1. Those home wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only given up one goal over those six matches. As for Mt. Pleasant, the defeat snapped their winning streak at eight matches and leaves them with a 15-5 record.

Coming up, Avonworth will face off against Beaver at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Avonworth will need to watch out since Beaver have now posted at least four goals in their last three contests. Mt. Pleasant does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
