Softball Recap: Brimfield Indians vs. Mercer County Golden Eagles

Brimfield had already proven themselves in the regular season and they didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They never let the Mercer County Golden Eagles onto the board and left with a 10-0 win on Wednesday. The result was nothing new for Brimfield, who have now won 12 contests by eight runs or more so far this season.

Sawyer Drury made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, keeping things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out nine over five innings pitched. Drury was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two RBI.

In other batting news, Brimfield let Kylee Vaughn and Brooke Sumner loose on the outfield. Vaughn scored two runs while going 3-for-4, while Sumner scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3. Sumner is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now stolen at least one in the last three games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Kierra Johnson, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.

Brimfield pushed their record up to 17-4 with that victory, which was their ninth straight at home. As for Mercer County, their loss ended a five-game streak of away wins and brought them to 19-10.
