Baseball Recap: Junipero Serra Victorious

Junipero Serra came out on top against Archbishop Mitty on Friday thanks in part to the team's impressive four-run first inning. The Padres took their game against the Monarchs 8-5. The win continues a trend for the Padres in their matchups with the Monarchs: they've now won seven in a row.

Kelley Crawford looked comfortable as he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. What's more, he posted four strikeouts, the most he's had since back in March.

At the plate, Junipero Serra let Ayden Beal and Nate Hui run wild. Beal went a perfect 3-for-3 with two RBI, while Hui got on base in three of his four plate appearances with three runs and one stolen base. Those two RBI gave Beal a new career-high. Donovan Friedland also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

Junipero Serra's record is now 14-6. As for Archbishop Mitty, their loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 14-6.
