Basketball Recap: Cathedral Comes Up Short

Cathedral entered their game against St. Mary on Friday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. The Panthers were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 58-57 to the Spartans. The home team had taken home the W every time these teams have met since December 14, 2022, but that streak is no more.

Cathedral's defeat dropped their record down to 12-5. As for St. Mary's, their victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 12-1.

Cathedral and St. Mary's should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Massachusetts Rankings. The Panthers will take on Shrewsbury at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday with a big rank advantage (26 vs. 93). Meanwhile, St. Mary's (ranked fifth) will meet Arlington Catholic (ranked 34th) at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
