Football Recap: Rabun County Skates Past Commerce with Ease + How To Watch

Rabun County had won four straight at home, but on Friday they bumped up to 7-0 to make it five. They took their game with ease, bagging a 55-28 win over the Commerce Tigers. The result was nothing new for the Wildcats, who have now won five matchups by 27 points or more so far this season.

Reid Giles produced another solid performance rushing for 243 yards and four scores while picking up 12.2 yards per carry, and also catching one TD. Thanks to that big game, he is now up to 15 rushing touchdowns on the season. Rabun County also got a significant boost from Lake Evans, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 134 yards.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Rabun County was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 396 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've posted since back in September of 2024.

Special teams also played a big role in the game for Rabun County, adding 13 points to the final score. The biggest highlight from special teams (and perhaps the team as a whole) came courtesy of Giles, who ran a punt back for a touchdown.

As for Commerce, they are on an eight-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-7. While losing is never fun, they can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia football rankings (they are ranked 309th, while Rabun County is ranked 101st).

Several Tigers players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Tate Kirk, who threw for 309 yards and three touchdowns. Another player making a difference was Essian Locklear, who picked up 133 receiving yards and a pair of scores.

Coincidentally, Rabun County and Commerce will both be playing Oglethorpe County the next time they take the field. The Wildcats will head out to face the Patriots at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, while the Tigers will host them at 7:30 p.m. on the 17th.
