For whatever reason, it's the away team that's had the advantage when Pope John Paul II and Ensworth meet (two straight games heading into this one) and that held true again on Friday. The Knights came up short against the Tigers, falling 13-2. The loss continues a trend for the Knights in their meetings with the Tigers: they've now lost eight in a row.

Pope John Paul II got a good showing from Seger Evens, who tossed three innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off one hit. Evens has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one hit in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Nate Webb made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-2 with one home run and two RBI.

Pope John Paul II's defeat dropped their record down to 3-15. As for Ensworth, their victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 7-10.

Looking ahead, Pope John Paul II will be playing at home against Mount Juliet Christian Academy at 11:15 a.m. on Saturday. As for Ensworth, they will head out to challenge Waverly Central at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. Waverly Central has struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 7.33 runs per game on average), something Ensworth will no doubt try to take advantage of.
