Baseball Recap: Lucerne Valley Comes Up Short

Lucerne Valley lost against Silver Valley last Tuesday, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. Lucerne Valley came up short against Silver Valley, falling 15-5. The Mustangs' defeat continues a trend for the team, making it four in a row.

Leon Willoughby made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored two runs and stole two bases while going 3-for-3. That's the most hits he has posted since back in March of 2024. Juaquin Landeros was another key player, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with one stolen base.

Even though they lost, Lucerne Valley was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .381. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their batting average total in three consecutive games.

Lucerne Valley's loss dropped their record down to 2-5. As for Silver Valley, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 4-3.

Lucerne Valley and Silver Valley will both get a bit of extra prep time before their next matches. The next time Lucerne Valley sees the field they'll take on Academy for Academic Excellence at 3:15 p.m. on April 8. As for Silver Valley, their break will end when they face Cobalt Institute of Math & Science Academy at 3:15 p.m. on April 8.
