Volleyball Recap: Warde Falls Short Against Ranked New Canaan + How To Watch

Warde faced New Canaan in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Thursday. The Mustangs fell just short of the Rams by a score of 3-2. The Mustangs were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Rams apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in September of 2024.

Warde took a 2-1 lead headed into the fourth set, but sadly they lost the next two. The match finished with set scores of 20-25, 25-18, 26-28, 25-23, 15-13.

Ivy Feay paced Warde's offense, picking up 21 kills. Feay got some help from Laila Henry and her 53 assists. Finally, Maddie Weisberg kept Warde's defense grounded, leading the team with eight blocks.

Mia Lockyer was a one-woman wrecking crew For New Canaan. as she had 26 digs and two aces. With that strong performance, Lockyer is now averaging an impressive 10.5 digs per game. Claire Jan also deserves some recognition as she posted her first assist of the season.

Having lost for the first time this season, Warde fell to 8-1. As for New Canaan, they pushed their record up to 7-1 with the victory, which was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season.

Warde didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 3-0 win against Westhill on the 27th. As for New Canaan, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 3-0 loss against Greenwich on the 27th.
