Baseball Recap: Mescalero Apache Wins Going Away Against Lordsburg

Mescalero Apache hadn't done well against Lordsburg recently (they were 1-6 in their previous seven matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. The Chiefs blew past the Mavericks 15-5. This was a revenge game for the Chiefs: when they faced off against the Mavericks back in April, they had to take a 9-6 loss.

Nathaniel Duffy was a standout: he got on base in four of his five plate appearances with three runs, one triple, and two RBI. He has become a key player for Mescalero Apache: the team is 4-2 when he posts at least two runs, but 4-11 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Anthony Yuzos, who went 2-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and one triple.

Mescalero Apache always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .625. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Lordsburg only posted an OBP of .448.

The victory made it two in a row for Mescalero Apache and bumps their season record up to 8-13. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 7 runs in those games. As for Lordsburg, they now have a losing record of 8-9.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Mescalero Apache beat the Mavericks by a score of 14-1 later that day.
