Douglas County and Heritage are an even 5-5 against one another since February of 2015, but not for long. The Douglas County Huskies will square off against the Heritage Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Douglas County is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 51.8 points per game this season.
Douglas County is headed into the matchup out to prove that what happened against ThunderRidge on Tuesday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. Douglas County was beaten by ThunderRidge 77-46. While losing is never fun, the Huskies can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 140th, while the Grizzlies are ranked seventh).

Douglas County might have lost, but man, Gavin Dale was a machine: he went 7-for-15 to rack up 27 points. The dominant performance gave Dale a new career-high in points. Karson Smukler also deserves some recognition as he posted his first block of the season.
Meanwhile, Heritage came up short against Regis Jesuit on Tuesday and fell 84-73.
Douglas County will have to contain Trystan Rangel as he made an impact in Heritage's last game. He went 6-for-14 en route to 23 points and five assists. The contest was Rangel's sixth in a row with at least 16 points. Charlie Gilloth was another key player, putting up 13 points and six boards.
Heritage has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four games, which has put a noticeable dent in their 10-12 record this season. Those losses can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 69.0 points over those games. As for Douglas County, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 6-16.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Douglas County has been crashing the boards this season, having averaged 22.9 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Heritage struggles in that department as they've been averaging 27.1 boards. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
Douglas County came up short against Heritage in their previous matchup back in February of 2024, falling 62-53. Thankfully for Douglas County, Logan Hause (who went 7-for-10 on his way to 22 points) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
