The home team had won the previous four meetings between Doherty Memorial and Tantasqua Regional, and Doherty Memorial kept the tradition alive. The Highlanders' defense stepped up to hand the Warriors a 31-0 shutout on Friday. The Highlanders might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four contests by 29 points or more this season.

Doherty Memorial found their leader in sophomore Ethan Mietla, who rushed for 97 yards and one score on only 13 carries.

Doherty Memorial's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 4-4. Those home wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 4.7 points on average over those games. As for Tantasqua Regional, their loss ended a four-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 4-4.
