The Cowan Blackhawks will square off against the Muncie Central Bearcats at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Cowan is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.2 runs per game this season.
Cowan took a loss when they played away from home on Thursday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Tuesday. They never let Winchester Community get on the board and left with a 1-0 victory. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last five times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

The result came thanks to Gentry Groves's shutout, as he gave up just six hits. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Cowan is 5-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 3-4 otherwise.
Meanwhile, Muncie Central came up short against Anderson on Wednesday and fell 8-4. The Bearcats have struggled against the Indians recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive lost meeting.
Gage Emberton made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. Aaron Coggeshall was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one RBI.
Cowan is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-5 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.5 runs on average over those games. As for Muncie Central, their loss dropped their record down to 3-14.
Cowan's speedy runners might be the difference in Thursday's matchup. The Blackhawks have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.5 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Muncie Central, though, as they've been averaging only 0.6 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Cowan continue to outrun the ball?
