Recap: Cumberland Clippers vs. Chariho Chargers
On Monday, the Cumberland Clippers faced the Chariho Chargers in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Cumberland took a hard 64-45 fall against Chariho. Cumberland has not had much luck with Chariho recently, as the team's come up short the last five times they've met.
Despite the loss, Cumberland still got an impressive performance from Bridgitt Van Etten, who scored 14 points along with seven rebounds. Another player making a difference was Allie Casavant, who scored seven points along with two steals.
Leading Chariho to victory were Keira Frias and Jules White. Frias scored 17 points along with four steals and two blocks, while White scored 20 points along with seven steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points White has scored all season. Megan Ballard was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with six rebounds.
Cumberland's defeat dropped their record down to 6-5. As for Chariho, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine games, which provided a nice bump to their 10-2 record this season.
Cumberland will be playing at home against Tiverton at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Rhode Island (Tiverton is ranked 34th, while Cumberland is ranked 24th). As for Chariho, they will head out on the road to square off against Moses Brown at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Moses Brown will be looking to keep their five-game home win streak alive.
