Recap: Wetumka Chieftains vs. Yale Bulldogs

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact the Wetumka Chieftains can now relate to. They took a serious blow against Yale on Friday, falling 60-14. Wetumka was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Yale apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in November of 2022.

It was another big night for Cornelius Prather, who rushed for 104 yards and four touchdowns on only 14 carries, and also threw for 175 yards and two touchdowns while completing 88.9% of his passes. The team also got some help courtesy of Jaden Rolland, who rushed for 49 yards and a touchdown.

Yale's defense stepped up as well, laying out the QB five times. Lucas Reece was especially locked on to Wetumka's QB and sacked him twice.

This is the second loss in a row for Wetumka and nudges their season record down to 6-5. As for Yale, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 8-3.

Wetumka does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Yale will head out on the road to face off against Keota at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Keota has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 304 points over their last six matchups.
