Basketball Recap: Lincolnton Skates Past Newton-Conover with Ease

Lincolnton came tearing into Friday's game with five straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 13.8 points) and they left with even more momentum. They blew past the Newton-Conover Red Devils 81-43. The Wolves have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won four matchups by 22 points or more this season.

Lincolnton got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was LJ Smith IV out in front who went 8 of 18 en route to 23 points along with five boards and three steals. Smith IV's evening made it eight games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Cam Smith, who dropped a double-double on 19 points and 11 rebounds.

Lincolnton was working as a unit and finished the game with 18 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Lincolnton's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 7-1. As for Newton-Conover, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-3.

Lincolnton will take on Stuart W. Cramer in a tournament on Thursday. Lincolnton knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past eight contests -- so hopefully Stuart W. Cramer likes a good challenge. As for Newton-Conover, they will be taking part in a tournament against St. Stephens at 1:30 p.m. on Friday.
