Softball Recap: Thrall Takes Down Elkhart in a Playoff Battle

With a playoff win on the line, Thrall rose to the challenge on Friday. They walked away with a 7-2 victory over the Elkhart Elks. The win was familiar territory for the Tigers, who have now won five games in a row.

Miley Pokorny spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on two hits and racked up 12 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in ten consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Thrall let Selena Quintanilla and Briana Jarosek run wild. Quintanilla went 3-for-4 with one run and one RBI, while Jarosek went 2-for-3 with two runs. That's the most hits Jarosek has posted since back in May of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Adelynn Bishop, who went 1-for-2 with one run and one RBI.

Thrall pushed their record up to 18-11 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.7 runs on average over those games. As for Elkhart, their loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 17-6.

As of now, neither Thrall nor the Elks have any future games scheduled.
