Basketball Game Preview: Selinsgrove Seals vs. Central Mountain Wildcats

The Selinsgrove Seals will head out to take on the Central Mountain Wildcats at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

Last Saturday, Selinsgrove didn't have too much trouble with Shikellamy as they won 70-53. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Seals.

Gavin Bastian was his usual excellent self, putting up 30 points. Those 30 points gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Xaivier Jackson, who posted 16 points.

Meanwhile, Central Mountain came up short against Forest Hills on Monday and fell 85-77. While losing is never fun, the Wildcats can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 355th, while the Rangers are ranked 22nd).

Selinsgrove has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a massive bump to their 4-6 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 61.5 points per game. As for Central Mountain, their loss dropped their record down to 5-7.

Selinsgrove took their victory against Central Mountain in their previous matchup back in February of 2024 by a conclusive 60-37. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was Central Mountain's Hunter Hoy, who went 7 of 13 on his way to 22 points and six rebounds.
