Basketball Game Preview: Sunrise Mountain Miners vs. Bonanza Bengals

The Sunrise Mountain Miners will take on the Bonanza Bengals at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. The two teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with six consecutive losses for Sunrise Mountain and three for Bonanza.

Sunrise Mountain is headed into the game out to prove that what happened against Basic on Thursday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. Sunrise Mountain lost 81-59 to Basic. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Miners have suffered against the Wolves since January 21, 2022.

Meanwhile, Bonanza was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap on Thursday as they fell 56-52 to Green Valley.

Bonanza's defeat dropped their record down to 2-8. As for Sunrise Mountain, their loss dropped their record down to 2-13.

Everything went Sunrise Mountain's way against Bonanza when the teams last played back in February of 2024, as Sunrise Mountain made off with an 84-62 victory. In that contest, Sunrise Mountain amassed a halftime lead of 44-23, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Monday.
