Basketball Recap: Westview Skates Past Jimtown with Ease

Westview won the last time they faced Jimtown and things went their way on Thursday too. The Westview Warriors claimed a resounding 45-17 win over the Jimtown Jimmies. With the Warriors ahead 26-6 at the half, the match was all but over already.

Westview got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Olivia Bontrager out in front who posted ten points and four steals. Those ten points gave Bontrager a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Bre Cory, who went 5 of 11 on her way to 11 points and eight rebounds.

Westview smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive boards. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 7 offensive rebounds per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 games they've averaged 9.5.

Jimtown lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Kamryn Williams, who had five points and nine rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Lily Gaugler, who put up six points and three steals.

Westview now has a winning record of 9-8. As for Jimtown, they are on a 13-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-15.

Westview will head out on the road to challenge Prairie Heights at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Jimtown, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 43-19 defeat against LaVille on the 11th.
