Softball Recap: Somers' Win on Monday Extends Winning Streak to Five

Somers entered their tilt with Rye on Monday with four consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with five. They never let the Garnets get on the board and left with a 12-0 win. For the Tuskers, this counts as revenge for the 7-2 victory the Garnets walked away with the last time they faced one another back in June of 2021.

Emily Boyle was a major factor no matter where she played. She struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and only one walk). She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one double and one RBI. That's the most hits she has posted since back in May of 2024.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Katie Cole, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs, three RBI, and one triple. Those three runs gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Julia Peanamanda, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI.

Somers was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .400. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

Somers' win was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 6-1. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.2 runs on average over those games. As for Rye, they are on an 11-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-3.

Somers has already played their next contest (against Rye-Rye Neck-Blind Brook), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. As for Rye, they will challenge Mahopac at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
